No teaching at Westbury Primary School

Parents are up in arms because of conditions experienced at the school.

Days after the MEC for Education, Panyaza Lusufi visited Westbury Primary School, the school is rocked by a non-teaching scandal.

The MEC’s visit was about the school’s lack of electricity and water supply.

Construction at the school on restoring the electricity and water has began but has disrupted teaching.

Pupils are placed on the field and are left to play during teaching hours.

Officials from the Department of Education met with school management to find a solution.

Parents want to take their children out mainly because of the lack of water.

“We want the school to be closed for a week so that construction can be completed,” said a parent, Sherizaan Meyers.

The water supply to the school has been switched off today, there isn’t a drop of water in the taps, according to teachers.

Teachers have said that ‘enough is enough’ they can’t be teaching in these conditions.

The Department of Education was not aware that no teaching was happening at Westbury Primary.
