‘Not to take the law into their hands’

A mass meeting was held to inform the public about a new strategy with regards to service delivery of SAPS.

This past Wednesday the Community Policing Forum held a meeting about service delivery from the local police at the Bosmont Recreational Centre.

The meeting was introducing a new strategy for residents to come and give all complaints about policing service delivery.

This will be held every quarter of the year.

Thabo Thipe from the Department of Community Safety said, “These sessions will help the police and residents communicate and to hear residents’ complaints regarding to service delivery from the police.

Gus Malgas chairperson of the Bosmont Community Police Forum said, “The CPF is not to take the law into their own hands but to assist the police.”

Malgas then gave feedback on the AGM hosted early this year with the MEC of Community Safety Faith Mazibuko about how has the CPF has made an impact in the past five years.

Some of the findings of the AGM were the crime rate in the region and how the CPF has contributed in the scourge of crime.

In Bosmont there are two different patrollers that are assisting in the fight against crime in the area.

“We are very lucky in having the CPF and the Bosmont Community Police Forum servicing our community,” said Malgas.

Crimes have decreased in Bosmont this is according the sector manager sergeant Jabulani Mabasa.

“There were 13 crimes reported form December 22 to January 29 and these are various crimes.

“Bosmont area has the lowest crime rate compare to the other areas in my sector,” said Mabasa.
