Taxi burns

Albertina Sisulu Road blocked up with traffic after a taxi burst into flames, the course of the fire are still unknown.

On Wednesday morning on Albertina Sisulu Road a taxi burst into flames.

No-one was injured in the fire.

Synock Matabajo Emergency Medical Services spokesperson said, “There were no persons injured in the taxi burning.”

Observers say that the taxi was parked and it seemed as if the fire started in the front of the taxi.

Police officers at the scene said that the taxi burst into flames around 8am.

South African Police Service (SAPS), Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and the Brixton Fire Station are at the scene.

JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnar said, “JMPD officers assisted with the traffic around the burnt taxi but couldn’t confirm the cause of the fire and it will be investigated.”

The cause of the fire is still unknown as investigation are still on going.

Authorities say they have everything under control and urge citizens to be patient if they are using Albertina Sisulu Road.
