Raid lead to at-least 126 arrest in Orlando West
Elias Mawela stated that the Multi-disciplinary operation came after they received a tip-off that a lot of illegal activities were taking place in the area.
More than 126 undocumented foreign nationals arrested in Orlando West industrial by the JMPD officers, Johanessburg district police, and South African National Defense Force members accompanied by provincial commissioner General Lieutenant Elias Mawela and MEC of safety Faith Mazibibuko .
The arrest happened during an ambush raid in Orlando West Industrial and Izimbuzini informal settlement located not far from the stadium.
Mawela stated that the Multi-disciplinary operation came after they received a tip-off that a lot of illegal activities were taking place in the area.

He added that indeed they have seen it that the allegation were true as they also managed to find a shack were they brew African Beer (umqombothi).
MEC Mazibuko said there is a lot of lawlessness in the area as they also have illegally connected electricity.
“We thank the members of the community for giving us the tips and we urge them to continue giving us a tip-off,” she said.
She applauded them for a job well done and urged them to continue doing the good Job.
Councilors were also seen amongst the people who took part in the raid.
