The Protea Magistrate Court closed for Covid_19 decontamination and disinfection process

Alternative arrangements have been made that all cases be diverted to Lenasia, Meadowlands and Kliptown for postponement.

The Protea Magistrate Court in Soweto closed on May 04-05 2020 for Covid_19 decontamination and disinfection process.

Officials of the Department of the Justice and Constitutional Development were made aware that an investigation officer who has a recent history of being at the court for work purpose has tested positive

A mass screening of the affected staff who had contact with the investigation officer is said to take place today.

All affected staff are currently in self quarantine.

In a statement issued by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development it is envisaged that the disinfection process will affect services in the communities of Soweto.

The Department will after decontamination and disinfection process make an assessment and reopen the court on 6 May.

Alternative arrangements have been made that all cases be diverted to Lenasia, Meadowlands and Kliptown for postponement.

The department wishes the affected staff strength and well wishes for their recovery.
