Miss Soweto hopefuls audition

Forty six Soweto hopefuls auditioned in hopes of becoming the next Miss Soweto.

Forty six Miss Soweto hopefuls auditioned last Saturday at Uncle Tom’s Hall in Orlando West, in hopes of becoming the next Miss Soweto.

Out of the 46, 20 were selected as semi finalists. The 20 beautiful young women will undergo mentoring and grooming classes to prepare them for the finals.

Former Miss Soweto Dineo Matsheka, who was one of the judges, said that she was impressed with the girls that auditioned.

She said that it was difficult to choose the top 20 as most of the girls were impressive.

“My advice to the girls is that they should learn more about Soweto and its history. I felt that most of the girls did not know about Soweto and if one becomes Miss Soweto they automatically become an ambassador of Soweto,” she said.

Collin Sithole, the organiser of Miss Soweto, said that he was impressed with the turnout for the auditions.

“We had a lot of beautiful and intelligent girls who came to audition, I am very happy with the top 20 semi finalists that were chosen by our judges,” said Sithole.

Boitomelo Moate (20) a semi finalist from Orlando East said that she is excited to have made it to the top 20.

“I am going to represent the people of Orlando, I am going to work very hard to make it to the top,” she said.

The Miss Soweto finals will be held at Soweto Theatre in Jabulani on November 13.
