Two suspects arrested in Jabavu for allegedly being in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition used during the Soweto taxi violence

The two suspects are charged at Moroka Police Station and facing charges of possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.

Moroka North residents in Jabavu were shocked when they saw a man and woman being arrested for illegal firearms and ammunition.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) and Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) were informed of suspicious behaviour and discovered four illegal firearms.

It’s alleged that the firearms were used during taxi violence in Soweto.

According to Spokesperson of JMPD Wayne Minnaar SAPS and JMPD officers received a tip off upon arrival they discovered four illegal firearms which allegedly was used during taxi violence in Soweto.

The officers went to second address and discovered the fifth illegal firearm.

“The public should not take the risk of keeping illegal firearms and ammunition. All illegal firearms and ammunition should be handed in at their nearest Police Station,” said Minnaar.
