Police tips to avoid robberies this festive season
With the festive season around the corner, Moroka police urge residents to follow their safety tips.
The Moroka police is sharing tips with residents on how to stay safe during the coming festive season.
Moroka communications officer John Serala said during this time they find that a lot of people experience robberies and theft which is why they want them to be aware of the incidents.
He said residents should try to follow these tips to avoid being victims.
· Avoid carrying too much cash on you.
· Be aware of your surroundings when withdrawing money from the ATMs and inside the bank.
· Avoid using the same route when going to and from the bank.
· Don’t tell people when you are going to the bank.
· Rather transfer money than to withdraw large sums of cash.
· Keep your bank card and pin safe at all times.
· When you are part of a stokvel, rather go in a group to withdraw money because when you are alone criminals know who to target.
Serala said they hope these safety tips will help to reduce robberies during the festive season.
