Dignity restored in Diepkloof Hostel
MMC for Housing, Meshack Van Wyk explained to the people from the community that his intention in the office is making sure that people get to live in good houses and in dignified communities.
The people from the Hostel Site in Diepkloof that was handed over to the designated constructors had many terrible conditions to point the MMC for Housing, Meshack Van Wyk.

So when the people coughed out their living condition issues, the MMC for Housing was readily willing to listen and to even to walk with them to their old houses in the Hostel to see their complaints.

Van Wyk said, “We are committed to restoring the dignity to the lives of our community to the condition of adequate housing, I am rather pleased that we are finally able to carry out upgrades and refurbishments in three hostels in Soweto.”
The MMC graciously congratulated the successful contractors that have been awarded the contracts to carry out the projects, he said, “I would like to appeal to the contractors involved in the implementation of the project that the City of Johannesburg expects nothing less than quality work that will stand the test of time.”
He further explained to the people from Diepkloof Hostel that all necessary resources needed to complete the phases of the project have been made available to ensure that the project is nothing but a success.
He told the people that the COJ Department of Housing has signed an agreement with Joshco as the implementing agent for the remedial work for the hostel project and assured the people that they remain fully committed towards the successful completion of the project, before handing over the sight to the contractors.
Marcel Mukwevho of Pro Power, one of the successful contractors said, “We are confident that we will execute an amazing job.”
