The Abraham Kriel Bambanani (AKB) offering practical entry level skills in Emdeni

Abraham Kriel Bambanani empowers the nation.

South Africa is rated as one of the most poverty stricken countries globally; therefore, there are citizens who try by all means to tackle such issues. The Abraham Kriel Bambanani (AKB) which is situated at the Emdeni skills development centre is an organisation that realised the need for skills development in the Emdeni area.

In most cases the youth that was not served through (AKB) programmes could not find jobs as an extensive research has shown that practical entry level skills were needed for one to be able to enter the job market or to start small enterprises.

The main purpose of the AKB organisation is to provide skills to young people who do not have access to the open labour market in order for them to establish their own Micro-enterprises.

“Our programme is not only beneficial to the youth in the community of Emdeni but also to the youth exiting our home based care and drop in centres in Soweto said the Emdeni skills development centre Manager,” Nyameka Kuphela Baduza.

There is a shortage of leaners at the Tiling and painting class, we would appreciate more people to come and apply for that course” said one of the facilitators, Lucky Tsukudu.

“Our aim is to be a stepping stone into a new direction that the youth is trying so hard to accomplish,”Baduza concluded.
