Fire raged Mthembu’s home

The Mthembu family is asking for assistance from anyone who can donate clothes or help them in any form of help to be able to fix their home.

The Mthembu family residing in Meadowlands zone one, where left homeless after their house burnt down at about 2 am in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The fire was so strong to a point that members of the community had to break the doors so that they can be able to save some of the things but unfortunately, their belongings were destroyed.

Tebogo Mthembu says she received a call from one of the community members that their house was on fire upon arrival, at zone one, she realised that the Tv set was not there and was suspicious that the person who stole it wanted to make it seem as if the items in the house were merely consumed by the blaze and not actually stolen.

“On that day I was out with my mother and child when I received a call from one of the community members that our house is on fire,” she said.



The Mthembu family currently there is no one who is working so they all depend on a social grant to sustain themselves

Tebogo said she suspects that the thief that stole their Television didn’t want to leave any evidence behind as he decided to start the fire.

She continued to say her uncle was the only one who was in the house when this fire started even though the community managed to save him he sustained injuries on his arm and a cut as he was trying to save himself.

“we are only left with the clothes that we are wearing and since there is no one who is employed the situation is more tougher,” said Mthembu.

“Since we have no other place where we can stay or sleep we sleep in that house with broken windows and no door just to have a shelter.”
