Ngi Phuma E Ndofaya ensuring that a every girl stay in school

Since their inception, Ngi Phuma E Ndofaya, is in their fourth month of distributing sanitary towels to schools in need and the initiative has received a warm reception within the community.

It is every individual’s dream to help in the community and help to make sure that every girl stays in school during her menstrual cycle.

Ngi Phuma E Ndofaya is a group which decided to take up the challenge of helping a school girl receive sanitary towels every month so that they stay in school and don’t have to worry about anything.

The group has decided to make this a monthly drive which kicks off during the first week of each month. Their approach is to collect sanitary towels which are dropped off at JoziFM before ascertaining which schools are in need before distributing the sanitary towels.

Since their inception, Ngi Phuma E Ndofaya, is in their fourth month of distributing sanitary towels to schools in need and the initiative has received a warm reception within the community.

Mpho Ngoyi, who is an active group member, said, “This starts with us, we also contribute and buy pads for girls and I also ask my colleagues to donate before we approach any potential donors.”

She added, “We try to contribute but it is not enough because we know the hardships that our girls face every month. This is the reason we do it every month because women don’t choose to have their periods.”

Tsholofelo Buda said, “Our help doesn’t end here, even in our communities we do assist children in need and share with them the little we can. We once hosted a party for the children from our own pockets and the smile and joy in their faces meant so much to us.”

“We might not understand the pain and hardships when they are at home but we are here for them.”
The sanitary towel drive takes place at Meadowpoint Shopping Centre and the group asks customers to include one pack of sanitary towels to their shopping list to be that change.
