‘Joburg West class of 2019 must achieve 93%’ – Mish Tshabalala

'We need to surpass the 93% matric pass rate'.

Achieving 90.8% matric pass rate, obtaining position four in the province and number five top performing district countrywide would be seen as a great accomplishment by some education departments.

However, Johannesburg West District Director, Mish Tshabalala wasn’t as pleased because he believes there is still more that needs to be done to accomplish a 93% target for the class of 2019.

Addressing his teammates at the gala award event held at Roodepoort Hoerskool, Tshabalala reminded top performing learners and schools in his district that success needs to be sustained at all cost.

“Awarded students and schools today knew that they wanted to be recognised for their hard work, but should they continue doing good, they will be rewarded for the rest of their lives. You learn every day and schooling has no end.

“Top performing learners are here today because they worked extremely hard on their studies,” said Tshabalala.

He said Johannesburg District West aims to get 93% matric pass rate in 2019. Tshabalala said if they get 93% matric pass rate, he will retire a happy man, but warned that if they do not reach the set target, he will surely not retire anytime soon.

“Top performing learners from our district should plough back to their respective communities in this district after they complete their studies,” said Tshabalala.
