Getting to know Phindile Mavuso

A profile of a policewoman.

After years of not having a communication officer, we take a look at Jabulani Police Station’s new communication officer- Phindile Mavuso (32), after 10 years in the service.

After a month of being appointed to the post, she finds it to be one of her most fitting occupations to date as the job fits well with her bubbly character.

Born and bred in Kwa Zulu Natal, Mavuso has her share of difficulties. This has made her the strong and disciplined women she is.

Although an energetic straight talker and a good listener, she puts her job first and prides herself on focusing all of her efforts towards life’s challenges.

Her career dates back to her early 20’s when she started her first job as a call centre agent back in Natal.

After spending a few years in the job, she decided to change her career path and took the risk to leave her job and pursue a career in the police service and enrolled at a police training college.

“I was so excited when I got accepted at the police college because I’d always had this burning passion to want to make a difference in the community, especially in matters to do with justice and safety.

“When I started on the job as a police officer, things were tough especially to make a name for myself because there is flexibility but in order to make it to the top, one has to be recognised.

“I figured along the way that with dedication and hard work, anything is possible with God as long as you put your mind to what you want,” she said.
