Watch: Sizanani keeps kids away from the streets these school holidays

Over 300 children have registered for the school holiday programme.

Its June school holidays and unfortunately, most parents still have to go to work and leaving the kids home alone is not a great idea. Sizanani Community Centre in Klipspruit continues to serve the community by taking care of kids during these holidays.

The holiday programme started on Monday, June 25 and has since received over 300 children registered for the programme.
Based at Motjoli Primary School, the centre particularly serves orphans and vulnerable children in the community, but for this programme, everyone from the age 0-18 is allowed to join.

They provide them with food, entertainment while they also teach them and all this is made possible through donations.
“We do this annually and this year we have received many kids compared to the other years. In order for us to sustain this, we ask for donations from our local schools. Our main aim is to make sure that these kids get nutritional support and are kept away from streets,” said Patricia Shosha of Sizanani Community Centre.
There are both sports and educational activities for these kids.
However, questions regarding children’s safety when it’s time to go home may arise, but Shosha says that they make sure that every child gets home safe as there are caregivers and most of the kids go home in groups.

Parents can rest assured that their kids will have something to do these holidays.

Shosha also said that the programme is running smoothly, however, food remains a challenge and they are therefore asking for any form of donation as a centre.
On the last day of the holiday programme, the centre will host an entertainment event for the kids and Mr and Miss Sizanani pageant will be held on the day.
