Multi-award winning hip-hop sensation and the face of Russian Bear- Kwesta has teamed up with one of SA’s freshest hip-hop talent- Caleb.
After a neck breaking #IAMNEXT national campaign over thousands of rappers and four provinces, Caleb Heynes from Alwal North got the golden opportunity.
The Russian Bear #IAMNEXT campaign had set out to unearth the freshest talent in the South African hip-hop scene with the campaign kicking off in August 2017.

After winning the completion, the opportunity was given to young Caleb to collaborate with Kwesta on a break-away single.
“With this single, I have a nice entry point into the industry, and getting to work with someone like Kwesta is almost like a dream come true for a person like me.
“I also feel like this opportunity is going to open more doors for me in the industry and allow me to venture more in the Hip Hop game.
“When I first started working on the song, I didn’t really have an idea of what I’d write about but the concept of righting about my mother came after I fully realised the support she had for me on this journey and the role she played in me actually getting to record a demo.

“I only felt it be fitting and good for me to say to her that ‘Mama we are going to be good and all is going to be ok’,” said Caleb.
According to Kwesta, it wasn’t much of a challenge gelling with Caleb musically because when it came to the business of the day, they both were on the same page.
“It felt sort of weird talking about someone’s mother who you have never met. I enjoyed the experience of doing the song and on the song, I was trying to come across as someone who enlightens him on how it is in the game. What I like about this campaign is that it promotes the idea of collaborating and co-signing upcoming artists.
“The nice thing about that is that it makes it easier for someone who has the talent to get to where they want to be when you come across a platform such as this,” said Kwesta.
