HRH Princess Michael of Kent launches her new book “A Cheetah’s Tale” in Joburg

Royal Contribution to SA Conservation.

Her Royal Highness (HRH) Princess Michael of Kent arrived in South Africa to join hands in the battle to preserve our precious wildlife at an event with conservationists and wildlife experts on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 – in Johannesburg.

The glamorous occasion, held at Birdsview private residence in Sandhurst, raised awareness around the global combat against wildlife extinction and the innovative ways South Africa is contributing to conservation across Africa.

A highlight of the event was the official book launch of HRH Princess Michael’s new book, “A Cheetahs Tale”. This passionate autobiographical tale from Princess Michael tells of the incredible bond that can exist between people and animals.

Beautifully written by a natural storyteller and packed with fabulous photographs, it is also a wonderful portrait of Africa, and a call to action to defend natural ecosystems that will delight readers worldwide.

As the Royal patron to the Cheetah Conservation Trust and The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, HRH Princess Michael joined The Ichikowitz Family Foundation and other charitable organisations in the campaign to save the plight of the rapidly decreasing cheetah population for which she has a great fondness and an extensive family history.

Spotlighting important innovative solutions in the struggle to conserve natural resources, The Ichikowitz Family Foundation announced conservation tactics using specially trained guard dogs that protect and promote the potential for humans and cheetahs to co-exist, safeguarding dwindling cheetah populations.

With “A Cheetah’s Tale” acting as a catalyst to further promote cheetah conservation, and the special bond between humans and cheetahs, HRH Princess Michael delivered a dynamic multimedia presentation to guests at Birdsview.

HRH Princess Michael of Kent: “Cheetahs have to run and it is vital for cheetahs to have adequate living and breeding space. One of the greatest battles in global conservation is finding the balance between wildlife and humans – The plight of the Cheetahs personify this difficult struggle. It is our responsibility to ensure we secure enough space and the survival of this extraordinary animal.”
