Clinic’s broken wall makes residents uneasy

The damaged wall around Zola Clinic is worrying residents.

The community of Zola is prompting the repairing of the damaged wall at the Zola clinic following a number of community complaints.

The complaints have come after recent reports of an increase in incidents of crime that have been taking place in the immediate community surrounding the clinic.

The infrastructure of the clinic is outdated and the wall is in such a state that there are multiple gaps and spaces around the wall especially the section near Isulihle Primary School.

Added to the infrastructural problems are maintenance issues where the open space behind the clinic’s wall needs trees and grass cut down as the lack of maintenance adds to safety risks.

“This wall compromises our safety and we have had reports of criminals using that space to conduct malicious activities. They hide things they have stolen from residents there and this has been going on for a while now.

“At times, you would find that you being watched by the criminals as they hide in the bushes at the clinic and even when you leave the house at daylight, you come back home and things are missing,” said councillor Fikile Motsamayi.
