ANC’s Moses Kotane Branch in Ward 28 shows residents care

Moses Kotane Branch dedicates 67 minutes to the partially blind Peter Maake

Members of Moses Kotane Branch under Ward 28 gave up 67 minutes of their time to honour the late Nelson Mandela by going to clean the home of partly blind Peter Maake.

The chairperson for the branch, Lucky Kgatle said, “As the ANC in the Branch, we wanted to lead by example and not only show response towards the elections.”

The chairperson explained that the branch was celebrating the countries first black president who lived a life of sacrifice for his people and how they identified that specific house and plans on taking care of its basic needs.

The branch secretary Aubrey Setshedi said, “We did a door to door and when we noticed the conditions of this house, we felt the compulsion to come and clean the yard and in so doing, we want to make the community aware that ANC cares.”

The yard around Maake’s house had long grass and had been in a terrible state for a long time.

Maake was happy to see ANC members cleaning his yard he was overwhelmed with the excitement he couldn’t even hide.

Ward councillor Peter Ndou got hands dirty as well and helped clean Maake’s home.

He said, “People seem to think that ANC has neglected them, but we are here to show with actions more than talk.

“We do care about our people and we certainly want them to live better lives.”
