Women and children focus of roadshow

The police and community discuss crime prevention measures

Sector managers Sergeant Lekalakala and constable Nkuna held a roadshow to raise awareness about the increase in crimes against women and children.

More than fifty community patrollers, Community Policing Forum (CPF) members and councillors Ronald Phamudi, Shimmy Mothlame and Sabatha Banda of Wards 32, 35 and 37 came together to distribute pamphlets about crime awareness.

The police and the community patrollers were engaging the residents and discussed crime prevention measures with them.

“Sector three is currently experiencing high volumes of crime which are reported daily. It was necessary to involve all the stakeholders in order to come up with ways in which we could prevent these crimes,” said captain Lucas Khoza.

“The sector managers would like to appeal to all residents of Sector Three which include Rockville and Jabavu, to assist the police with any information that can lead to the arrest of any suspects that are involved in robberies.”

According to Khoza, the mini Pick n Pay shops around Rockville and Jabavu have been robbed several times.

However, they are not the only shops which are targeted by criminals; many other shops have been robbed too. Delivery vehicles of consumable goods are also targeted.

The police requested that the community come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of these criminals.

They can contact Sergeant Lekalakala on 079 525 1495.
