Bramfischerville Clinic officially opened at Multipurpose Centre
Gone are the days when Bramfisherville residents have to travel about 8 kilometers to Itereleng Clinic or 6 kilometers to Sol Platjie clinic in the neighbouring townships.
Bramfisher residents now have their first public clinic opened to the public last Thursday. The clinic signal a dawn of the new era as they are now receiving medical care at their doorstep.
Speaking to Urban Newspapers, the first patient at the clinic Zanele Simelane (33) said, “ it is a dream come true to have their own public clinic.
“I woke up at 6 am to make sure that I’ among the first group of the patients registered in this clinic. I was surprised when I was told that I’m the first patient to be registered in this clinic which is history. I was well received and the treatment they gave me was wonderful.”
Despite the tiny size of the new container clinic, the services they rendered are in line with the basic primary health care package and second to none. The clinic has mother and child health care, HIV management, chronic diseases management, acute curative and emergency and accident services.
Maria Mazibuko Sub District Manager said, “The clinic has 18 qualified staff members and 32 community health workers doing home visits in the area. Community health workers are divided into three teams and each team is headed by a qualified nurse. The clinic starts operating from 7am-4pm Monday to Friday. Saturday, we start operating from 7am-1pm.”
Mazibuko is optimistic that their staff members will not fail in providing primary health care to 10012 households of Bramfisherville at all times.
