Coaches gear up for coaching course

SAB and SAFA will again host the skills camp for local coaches.

After the success of the 2016 Match Officials and League Administrators course held by South African Breweries (SAB) and South African Football Association (SAFA).

The grassroots football development league will once again host the SAB League Skills Camp.  A total of 52 coaches from the respective SAFA Regions have been invited to attend the course which is to be held at the High Performance Centre from February 5 to 15.

Through its approach to football development, SAB has been pioneers in commendably demonstrating its promise of being committed to football development by boasting more than 30 000 youngsters from different parts of the country competing weekly.

The league has produced a number of the country’s top performing footballers.

The brewery has invested resources in providing education to players through the SAB League Study Assistance programme which has seen a number of players having countless opportunities of tertiary education.

Senior national team assistant coach, Thabo Senong who is a product of the SAB League, having coached clubs from Limpopo is among some of the coaches expected to share their knowledge at the course.

“It is always rewarding to witness such programmes for coaches at grassroots level.

“I am the league coach graduate and it is highly important that courses such as these are offered at this level to ensure that there is a high level of professionalism during these early developmental stages.

“This contributes to the standard and quality of coaches produced in the country” said Senong.
