Early Christmas for grannies and kids

Base 5 Guard security spread the festive cheer with food parcels and gifts.

No amount of heat could stop the senior citizens and the children of Protea Glen from getting treated to some Christmas goodies at Sizwe Shopping Centre Shop late last week at an event hosted by Base 5 Guard (https://base5guard.co.za/) .

The purpose of the event was to show the elders that they care about them create a healthy network environment and raise awareness to give back to the community.

“We need to give senior citizens the respect they deserve without making a political innuendo; it’s not about Base 5, it’s about giving back to the community,” said Lucky Moshimane, managing director of Base 5 Guard.

From starting off as a taxi driver/ taxi owner, Moshimane made it point to highlight the endless possibilities of owning your own business and helping other people grow as well.

Besides the spirit of giving the security company wanted share in Protea Glen, the importance of black businesses supporting others resonated in the marquee as he encouraged other business owners that attended the event to also strive to give back and to help each other grow not only as township businesses but as owners.

“Don’t forget your roots, where you come from and do everything you want to achieve with a passion and determination.

The children of Tholimfundo Primary and Faranani Primary schools were invited to enjoy the festivities; they had a jumping castle and a clown to keep them entertained throughout the day.

Thando Goba, Head of Department of the company said, “We need to take care of our grandparents and our children because they are the ones that shape who we are and are our future leaders”.

The day ended off with children receiving some school bags with goodies inside and the senior citizens rejoicing in as they received food parcels with the basics staple foods inside them.
