Ndofaya Caterers celebrates learners

Future chefs to make Ndofaya proud.

Ndofaya caterers learners were endowed with NQF Level 2 assistant chef certificates at the chief’s house in Meadowlands on November 24.

The ceremony was filled with inspirational words from different speakers who have been part of the hospitality academy from day one.

National Tourism and Hospitality Association (NTHA) chairperson Fanny Mokoena who is also the principal of academy said that punctuality is very important in this profession and hope that all the learners will be punctual in the organisations that they will work for.

“In this career you are not supposed to be late ever, If you didn’t learn that you can come back and we will teach you about punctuality for an extra month.

Mokoena said that the door is always open for the graduates if they need support and assistance.

“Implement what you have learned in your career, even though sometimes you will be rejected do not give up,” said one of the guests Fezeka Mambolo.

Teacher Selina Modisa wished the assistance chefs all the best in their future endeavours, “Carry respect everywhere you go and make sure that you do not steal,” she said.

In the ceremony one of the learners who passed away was remembered and her family received the certificate on her behalf.

Ndofaya Caterers was formed by NTHA in 2012 with a vision of minimising poverty and unemployment in the township through catering skills.

Mandla Motha who is a professional chef coordinated catering classes with ten learners at Meadowlands Tourism Development Centre (MTDC) in 2013

The ten learners graduated on November 2013 and obtained basic catering certificates.

Ndofaya Caterers aim to continue teaching learners about catering in order for them to better their life.
