Two learners promoted to grade 6 from grade 5

Imagine how quickly you can finish school, two learners have already made their way to another grade in the same academic year.

Sage Doubel and Lohwin Holt were both Grade Five learners who recently completed their grade and have now started their Grade Six in the same year.

The two learners achieved this while attending at the Goal Christian Academy, a new Independent Accelerated Christian Education Curriculum.

Doubel is 10-years old and Holt 11.

Both of them have made history at the school situated in Klipspruit West Extension 2.

The academy is doing the A.C.E curriculum and this system started through home schooling, but has grown into schools.

In order to control or regulate the quality and often, the content of their child’s education, parents are increasingly choosing the home schooling option.

Home-schooling is when a parent or caregiver registers with a home-schooling mother body like Home-schooling SA in order to educate their child at home.

They receive guidance, support, external exam marking and textbooks.

According to the principal Randall Doubel, the system is similar to modules in university but their books are called PACE because learners work at their own pace and can determine when he/she wants to complete a grade.

“When a learners work according to their own pace and they manage to complete all their PACEs for that specific grade, they do not wait for the next year to start with the next grades PACEs.

“They immediately get the following grades work and start working on it,” said Randall.

Randall said Sage is his son and that makes him even more proud to see how committed and dedicated he was with his work.

“I am very proud of both of them, seeing that we only started this year with the school.

“The children enjoy learning with this curriculum and they are motivated to set goals and achieve,” he said.
