Update: Aurora Girls High School finally gets a principal

The SGB says they didn't take part in closing the gates as alleged by one school teacher last week.

The principal was officially appointed in Aurora Girls High School on October 19.

Ernest Moloi who was initially elected to be principal after formal interviews and procedures were conducted by the School Governing Body (SGB) is now the principal for Aurora Girls High School.

Last week the spokesperson for Gauteng Department of Education, Oupa Bodibe promised that Aurora would have a principal by this week.

Ernest Moloi was the desired principal from the start because he has shown the school total devotion, according to the chairperson for the SGB in the school, Thandiwe Shezi.

Shezi explained that the SGB and the parents are two different groups and that the SGB took no part in closing the gates on October 10.

This was because they were angry over the delay in appointing the principal in the school.

She elaborated that the parents had a meeting on September 25 and decided to close the school gates on October 10.

Shezi said, “Now that the school has a principal, the SGB is very happy that the matter has been finally resolved. We want to take the school up there and improve the pupil’s marks.

Shezi said, “We would like to thank the parents who took the initiative to push the department to finally decide on the matter.”
