Miss Pimville/Klipspruit to be crowned

Ten finalists to battle it out for the crown of Miss Pimville/Klipspruit.

Miss Pimville/Klipspruit 2016 will be crowned next weekend on September 10. Ten finalists will be vying for the ultimate prize of being the queen of one of the popular townships in Soweto.

The event is organised by Youth on Planet, a youth organisation based in Pimville Zone 3. The organisation deals with youth empowerment and development in Pimville and surrounding areas.Organiser Oupa Mafumane said the pageant is about youth empowerment. “The pageant is about empowering young people, especially women.

“It is meant to motivate them to dream big and work hard to make sure that those dreams become a reality,” said Mafumane.

It’s going to be a tough one for the judges who will be looking for more than just beauty as all ten contestants have proven that they have more than just the looks to offer.

What’s at stake for the winners is a chance to be an ambassador for Pimville and Klipspruit. “We are looking for someone who will be a good example to other young people,” said Mafumane.

Over and above the chance to be an ambassador, the winner will get a role in a movie promoting literacy to be shot in Pimville.

Mafumane said literacy is one of their passion points as an organisation and the winner should share that passion.

“The winner will have to motivate other young people and preach the importance of education and loving books,” he said.
