3 thing you need to know about mobile HIV testing stations

Here are a few things you need to know about mobile HIV testing stations in the Diepkloof community.

The Foundation for Professional Development (FPD) and the Gauteng Department of Health (GDH) are currently offering free HIV and AIDS testing to the Diepkloof community.

The FPD is an organisation that works as a mobile testing clinic and helps the community know their statuses so they can manage their Cd4 counts in time, the mobile clinic refers people to the local clinics for further assistance if necessary.

On July 27 they had visited Diepkloof, counselling and making sure that people are informed about how to prevent contracting diseases, how to live with HIV and AIDS and that they always have condoms.

  1. The mobile testing stations will be in areas of Diepkloof until the end of this month.
  2. All tests are done in confidentiality using a small device called Advanced Quality which is always precise and only takes 15 minutes to reveal the results according to Thembi Ngwenya.
  3. The FPD also checks for the Cd4 count and releases the results in 20 minutes.

Raroswinga Mpho of FPD is a nurse and counsellor, she said, “We want people to know their statuses earlier so they can get treatment sooner to prevent unnecessary deaths.”

“Our aim is to prevent illnesses caused by not knowing your status and the spread of HIV and AIDS”.

Mpho said we bring the clinic to the people and offer them convenience. The project is sponsored  by the USAID.

Ngwenya said, “As of September 1, everyone who tests positive will be immediately eligible for ARVs so their health will not decline.”
