‘No to sexual offences’

Police lead the way in publicly denoting that violence is unacceptable.

Dobsonville police held a march focusing on sexual offences and domestic violence within the area.
Police partnered with Young Voice Academy and Reya Tsholetsana in support of this social initiative.
According to constable Mzwakhe Xazi, these organisations wish to work closely with the police and to give information about crime and other social ills.
Xazi said: “People must break the silence about any issue that affects their way of living, particularly rape or sexual offences or domestic abuse.
“Some of the sexual offences happen indoors – you find that uncles or fathers rape and abuse women at home and in society.
“We applied for a march at Johannesburg Metro Police Department and was approved. Demonstration started at Kopanong to the police station, ” said Xazi.
Children, local residents and other stakeholders were part of this march.
This march was a pledge by locals to encourage working together to effect change in society.
