Another man arrested for selling fake notes

Mr Fake notes put behind bars.

Moroka Police Station officer made another successful arrest of a man who was selling fake notes at Nancefield Hostel today.

The officer in duty and investigation officer Mandla Radebe said they responded to a tip-off from the perpetrators neighbours who reported the matter anonymously.
“This is a huge breakthrough for us since we have been investigating the case from the man we arrested in Chiawelo who was selling the fake notes too.
“We received a tip-off from residents who complained about the man’s illegal activities and we set up a trap and when we arrived at his house, we found fake notes of about R33 000 in his position and we arrested him immediately and charged him with fraud and theft.”

Radebe said the man agreed to owning the notes and that he has been operating for a long time.
“When questioned further, the man agreed that he has been selling the R200 notes for R70 and R100 notes for R20, so we will investigate further and see if we can link him to the case in Chiawelo.”
Radebe said residents must always play their role in helping the SAPS fight crime in all the areas they are policing.
“It is everyone’s duty to fight crime and report any criminal activities happening in their areas, there is nothing as small crime, any illegal activity is a crime.
