Eskom to be taken to court

Eskom fails to keep the promise of no outages.

The Zola community has been waiting for ground work action from Eskom since April and says the service delivery is slow.

The last mass community action was the delivery of a memorandum to the Sophie Masite Civic centre in Jabulani.

The communities’ outcries were met with modesty and community leaders were assured that their outcries would be attended in due time.

“Since then were have been in communication with Eskom but nothing solid as been put on the table.

“In the last communication we had with them, they said they would stop switching off our electricity but there are some households that are being cut off even today.

“Another thing that Eskom had said was that they would give us continued electricity on a preliminary basis until after the election and after that, they will convert everybody to Split Meter systems.

“To make things worse, these split meters aren’t serving us the way they should be because these boxes have technical faults.

“Right now the plan of action is to work with a legal body known as Probono.org to represent the community of Zola to stand against Eskom in court.

“No court dates have been issued by the matter is still being legally investigated,” said Muzi ‘Shakes’ Tshabalala, a community representative from Zola 2.
