Parents Urged to keep sharp eyes on Children

Children's Safety Comes First.

City of Johannesburg Region D Child Safety Unit spokesperson Nonkululeko Dlamini said that the city is aiming for Zero Tolerance of child abduction during the June and July school holidays.

Dlamini said last year in June and July approximately 40 children in Soweto were reported missing during the holidays.
“This holidays our eyes and attentions are on child abductors and we want to make sure that we don’t offer them any room to play.
“We have now beefed up securities at parks and have been supported by the SAPS and JMPD officers and local patrollers who will be visible at parks and community centres to make sure that children are safe when playing or when reading.”

Dlamini urges parents to join them and help.
“The main people who should play a significant role here are parents, sisters, and uncles and childminders.
“Everytime a child leaves the house they must take note of the clothes the child is wearing, who the child is going out with and where they are going and this will help police if in case the child gets missing.”
To report a missing child to the police, parents are urged to contact 011 527 0000.
