Beware of fake ANC
The Meadowlands police station have recorded reports on ANC imposters lurking in the area.
The Meadowlands police station would like to warn the public to keep a watch out for people allegedly claiming to be African National Congress (ANC) members.
Sergeant Octavia Thebe, public relations officer of the police station said, “These imposters allegedly claim to register people for free food parcels, then they request for your identity card.”
When they are finished they allegedly don’t give residents their original identity cards and return a fake one.
The money promised to residents is then withdrawn using the original copy of the identity card.
Thebe said several reports have been from senior citizens, therefore if residents fall under that category or they live with an elderly person who may fall victim to such an incident, please may they be careful in not supplying personal information to a stranger.
No arrests have been made as yet.
