Moroka Police Station officers starts monitoring parks and open spaces.

A campaign has been started by the Moroka police station in order to fight crime that takes place in parks and open spaces.

Moroka Police Station officers has embarked on their winter season parks and open space monitoring campaigns.

The campaign aiming at fighting criminal activities such as armed robberies, rape and highjacking will be hosted in all the areas the station is policing and police urges residents to join and volunteer their spare time.

The station communications officer John Serala said: “Last year during winter we had 27 cases opened in our station which took part at open spaces and parks so this year we want to make sure that the number decreases, or we don’t get any report of such criminal activities at parks.

“Residents must feel free to travel and go wherever they want to go with no fear of being killed or victimised by criminals and so we want to to make sure that these criminals have no room to play and terrorise our people in the community.”

For volunteerism, the station can be contacted on 011 527 0000
