Moroka police ready to protect children

Child safety a priority

Moroka Police Station officer have embarked on their child protection week campaigns in all the areas they are policing in.

The station communications officer said that they main issue to address was child abuse and child abduction in their areas.

“Its winter now and the sun set fast and becomes dark earlier and that’s when children fell victims to abductors and rapists, so we saw it fit to start with this campaign to make sure our children are safe.

“Now we are busy with visiting different areas and pre-schools in central western Jabavu and other areas where we are policing and we want to make sure that these criminals are offered no room to play.”

Serala said: “We encourage residents to avail themselves in working with us so we can make the campaign a great success and save our children from being victims.

“Parents must also make sure that they keep thorough details of their children’s movements and dress code every day and make sure that they know where they go and who they going with and as soon as they suspect any foul play or their children not returning home soon, they must immediately notify the police for help.”

For such campaigns, residents are urged to contact the station on 011 527 0000.
