The Gauteng Department of Education says it is putting contingency plans in place to address water disruptions in affected schools in the province.

The department on Thursday said the Head of Department (HOD), Edward Mosuwe, has issued a request as a matter of priority to district directors to provide the department with lists of schools that have been affected by the water disruptions in certain areas of the province.

“Schools are therefore urged to report water disruptions to district directors so that necessary support can be speedily provided,” said the department.

The department said it has been in discussion with the Disaster Management Centre in the City of Johannesburg for the centre to speedily provide water and water tanks to affected schools.

“The same arrangement will be made with other municipalities across the province where there are water disruptions in schools,” said the department. – SAnews.gov.za
