Circumcision trip goes wrong

School in hot water as parents demand answers.

Police were called to Noordgesig Primary School on Monday afternoon to calm down a group of angry parents.

Parents were demanding answers from the school regarding a circumcision trip that went wrong.

On Thursday last week parents signed consent forms allowing their boys to go on a  circumcision trip organised by their school.

The trip was scheduled for Friday morning and pupils were supposed to be back on the same day.

Parents started worrying when their children did not come back on time.

They did not return until the early hours of Saturday morning.

What angered the parents more was that pupils were dropped off at a central place and they had to walk home alone.

Parents alleged  that their children were assaulted at the circumcision school.

One of the parents, Eunice Abrahams said, “Our children went for circumcision on Friday and it turned out ugly. They were beaten up and were only returned home early hours of Saturday morning.

Some children were left at central dropping points at that hour and told to walk home.”

The legality of the circumcision school pupils were sent to is also questioned.

According to parents it operates from an RDP house in Fleurhof.

The principal could not be reached for comment.

A meeting between parents and the school is scheduled to take place today.
