Man gets 15 years for murder

Warrant officer gets compliments for job well done.

On Women’s month, the Diepkloof South Africa Police Service (SAPS) welcomed the sentencing of Sifiso Mdluli for the murder of Portia Sotia (22).

He was sentenced to 15 years on August 7 at the Protea Magistrates Court, in relation to the murder that took place on February 28, at Embizweni tavern in Diepkloof Zone Five.

Diepkloof police spokesperson Phephi Matlou-Mteto said that it is clear what sparked the fight.

“It is alleged that Portia and her boyfriend were drinking with friends at the tavern, when she was attacked by Mdluli who took out a knife and stabbed her multiple times on the upper body.

“It shows that the police are doing their job, which is to ensure that perpetrators of crime are caught.

“This is one of the success crime stories that prove to the community that we are hard at work.

“We would like to congratulate our warrant officer Vincent Ngcobo for his dedication to this case.

“This should send a strong message to those who intend to commit crime that they will be arrested and jailed,” said Matlou-Mteto.
