As the Soweto Marathon Trust (SMT) recently confirmed that the organisation of the Soweto Marathon is well underway, registrations are already open and a number of participants have registered already.
The race will be hosted at Nasrec Expo Centre on November 1.
It will consist of three distances; the standard marathon (42.2 km), the half-marathon (21.1 km) and the 10 km race.
SMT executive chairperson, Sello Khunou said the marathon is fully supported by the Provincial Athletics Authority and Central Gauteng Athletics.
He said they are thrilled with the exciting partnership and it is encouraging to have partners who share their vision to deliver an event that is reliable and hopes for a dramatic growth.
Last year the race was partnered by Nike, but this year it has the backing of Old Mutual.
The Soweto Marathon is organised and hosted by the athletics clubs of Soweto, who are the race owners, under the leadership of the SMT.
