Jabulani SAPS celebrates women

The spirit of empowerment revived among Jabulani patrollers.

The Jabulani Police Station honoured women patrollers in celebration of women’s month on August 20.

The occasion was put in place to show appreciation of the role played by female patrollers in the community and to policing as a whole.

The event was put together by a number of departments within policing including the station management, LDAC, Crime Prevention Unit and the CPF.

The underlying theme and message to the honoured women was the message of women empowerment and women conquering the world.

The opening of the occasion was graced by Reverend Mamoalusi Mothupi who said: “The power of women comes from the head and not from the body.”

The reverend made reference to the bible saying: “Deborah led men to a war and she is the only one who has ever done that.

“She didn’t lead a war using her physical strength but using her compassion and brains.

“In the CPF context, women take risks and face issues such as the possibility of getting raped and worse of all, there are more women than there are men in the CPF, so you really deserve the honour.

“So today we are here to revive your strength and to remind you of the power and important role you hold in society.”

She said leaders are always servants, they lead from behind.

“That’s the fundamental role played by women and even within the CPF, a women’s role cannot be replaced by a man and thus the CFP are truly women of substance,” said Wendy Phalowa from People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA).
