Woman busted for fraud at Maponya Mall

Woman tries to apply for a loan using fraudulent documents.

A 34-year-old woman is due to appear in court on charges of fraud.

According to police reports the woman was detained at an ABSA bank at Maponya Mall last week.

She was trying to apply for a bank loan using a fraudulent Identity Document (ID).

Security checks by bank employees showed that the ID number provided by the woman had an account number which had been closed but she had no knowledge of that.

It was also found that the photo in the ID book and on the bank database were not matching.

Upon discovering this, bank employees called Kliptown police.

The woman was detained on the scene and is due to appear in court soon.
