Jozi@work cleans Protea Glen

New campaign to educate people on how to handle their waste.

Executive Mayor, Parks Tau visited Protea Glen on Wednesday.

There was a cleaning campaign where the community of Protea Glen, Musa Telecoms, Soweto Environment Forum, MC Muffats, Reshumile, Zondi Plastics, Emaplantini-Shhanty, Masifedi Trading&Projects, Tayanja and Think Africa were all part of the programme to clean the site.

Since littering is very “common” in Protea Glen, those who were part of the cleaning programme hope that the community will stop littering and also engage in fighting against illegal dumping.

Andile Madonsela from Protea Glen Extension 11 said that she is grateful to be part of the team which took care of her environment and encourages the community to stop illegal dumping and report them if they see someone doing it.

City of Jorbug with Waste Group Projects have started a campaign which will educate people on how to handle their waste.

The campaign is set to begin in May and will be a 12 months programme.
