Queensland Reds visit Zola

Australian rugby team inspires members of Jabulani Rugby Club.

The Queensland Reds Rugby Club from Australia visited the heart of Soweto in Zola last week Wednesday for a skills transference session.

The host team  Jabulani Rugby Club seized the opportunity to make it a team building and outreach campaign in Esithebeni Park in Zola One to reach out to youngsters in and around Zola.

The Australian team has come to South Africa for their away game of the league where they will be facing the Blue Bulls in a Vodacom Super 15 Tournament.

Thando Mhlongo is the chairman of Jabulani Rugby Club and he said the one thing he appreciates about the Reds’ visit is the attraction they cause.

“Being in the presence of international icons is one of the most effective motivation for the young ones.

“One thing I can promise you is that whatever tips and techniques they learnt today will have more relevance to them and will stick in their minds because of the value they have assigned to the international players,” Mhlongo said.
