‘Rest in peace Nene’
Former ward 31 councillor Vusi Nene described as a selfless leader.
Residents gathered to celebrate the life of the late former ANC ward 31 Councillor Vusi Nene at his memorial service at the Young Men’s Christian Association Hall in Orlando East
He died on March 6 at Lesedi Hospital.
Nene was the councillor of ward 31 from 2006 to 2011. Those who spoke at his memorial service described Nene as a hard working man who always put the interest of the people first.
Ward 31 Councillor Bongani Dlamini said that he had to fill big shoes when he became councillor after Nene’s term.
“He had done so much work within the community, the tar roads that we see now and the street lights that we have are all because of Nene’s contribution.
”He was a true selfless leader who always put the community’s interest before his own,” said Dlamini.
He added that Orlando East will never be the same again without the guidance of Nene.
