Teenager dies after drinking poison

Councillors sympathise with the Bantatetse family after their daughter's death.

A 19-year-old teenager passed away allegedly after she drank ga le phirime (rat poison).

Kearabetse Bantatetse was a pupil at Forte High School and was a Grade 11 pupil.

After her death, councillor of Ward 44 George Lekgetho and Ward 47 councillor Majonny Tsobane visited the family to offer their condolences.

“We sympathise with you in this ordeal and we felt it necessary as councillors to support this family as we always do with other families,” said Lekgetho.

Teachers from the school also visited the family.

Ellen Bantatetse (mother) is a domestic worker and is hardly at home.

She said: “My workplace is very far – I would often wait a while to return back to see them.”

“I have lost a daughter who was very close to my heart and what hurts me severely is the reason that led her to this is unknown,” said Ellen.
