Protea Glen Secondary School obtains 94%

Protea Glen Secondary improve their matric pass rate.

While the matric pass rate has lowered from the previous years, Protea Glen Secondary has improved theirs.

Out of the 156 pupils who sat for matric exams last year, 146 passed.

Although the school aimed at 100% pass rate, they are not very disappointed by the results they obtained.

“We did not reach our target  100% but nonetheless we are happy that we have improved from the 82% that we obtained from the class of 2013,” said Joseph Mabaso, principal of the school.

The school managed to get a total of 43 distinctions, with 77 pupils getting a Bachelor,  49 Diploma and 20 with admission to Higher Certificate.

Thuto Makhado, who also wrote his matric last year obtained three distinctions and is looking forward to further his studies.

“I am very excited by the marks I obtained,  and now I look forward to studying mechanical engineering to better myself and make something out of my life,” said Makhado.

The school still remains as one of the best performing schools in Soweto with a total pass rate of 94%.
