Counselling made available for matriculants

GDE pledge to give matriculants additional support during this stressful time.

The Gauteng Department of Educations has urged pupils to make use of the Child Line numbers should they need counselling during this crucial time of final examinations.

This comes after 143 647 Grade 12 pupils in Gauteng started with their final examinations on October 27.

“As part of measures to support our pupils during this period, we have a standing agreement with Child Line to assist pupils who find themselves in stressful situations, as a result of pressure they might experience from these examinations,” the department said.

The number pupils can contact should they need counselling is 08000 55 555.

The department has said that examination results will then be released on January 6.
