Gun owners urged to be responsible with their weapons

Firearm owners are urged to store their weapons in a safe and secure place.

Dobsonville police communications officer, constable Mzwakhe Xazi said it is important to put a firearm in a safe or in a place only known to you.

Xazi said this will prevent children or anyone from gaining access to the firearm.

Xazi said a firearm should not be carried with to a liquor store because people can disarm you.

“People who own guns become targets to people who want them,” he said.

“We’re pleading to the community to come forward with information if they know of anyone who owns an illegal firearm.”
