Petition to be drafted over dumping site

Councillor of Ward 47, Majonny Tsobane said he is concerned about the health of residents living near the dumping site of Motaung Shops.

Tsobane said a room that was used as a shop has been abandoned and that people have turned the space into a dumping site.

He said that nearby residents have been complaining about the smell and that they want something done to the open space to avoid the dumping of waste.

“I received reports concerning robbery, gambling, rape and a person was also killed in this particular open space.

“I just want this area to be kept clean and if it means finding the owners of the property, that’s what I will do,” said Tsobane.

The councillor asked residents to draw-up a petition which will serve as proof that indeed they agree that something should be done to correct the problem.
