Desperate couple struggles to survive

Struggling couple faced with endless problems.

While some people wake up with bright smiles every morning, some desperately continue to wait for help that just seems not to come.

Matlapeng ‘Stones’ Abram and his wife Nelly Mabati both live together in a very small room which gives them endless problems.

Abram who has one leg amputated is a diabetes patient with his wife who also happens to be blind.

ANC branch members in the Nicolas Molokwane Branch claims that the Abram lost his leg due to his diabetes and his wife lost her eyesight to the disease as well.

One of the members, Kenneth Mungeka who is trying to help the family said he met with Abram the day he saw him struggling with his wheelchair.

Mungeka then did an inspection on the family background only to find that things were worse.

“When Abram saw me, he said God has answered his prayers after a long time because now help would finally come their way.

Mungeka says Mabati needs an urgent operation for her eyes and that Abram also needs an automatic wheelchair, an artificial leg and a better house to live in.

“I have spoken to the Department of Health and the Department of Social Services to intervene.

“We know that there are many people struggling to survive but we should work together and help those in need,” he said.
